Sunrise

The light it fills my room like water,
as I wipe the sleep from my eye.
The day has pierced my window.
and so has a tranquil silence from outside.
I sit up and begin to stare,
blankly into the blue.
And for a moment that feels like forever
the world is all my own.
I break myself from my daze,
and pull myself to my feet,
I see sprawled across a new day,
an ocean of colour before me.
The inverted sunset,
calls for yesterdays lullaby.
All I can offer is the alarm clock
and it's washed out cries.

Tides (Spoken Word)

Once upon a time, there lived a monster,
on an island surrounded by a beautiful flowing ocean.
He lived only with the salutation of the fiery red planet for company.
It was a fine evening,
as the reflection burnt a bright orange over the seven seas deep navy...
The monster intently watched the sun's path over the earth
and feared the moment that it would melt into the blue.
As he knew,
that when the sun hides behind the edge of the sea,
all the little evils that creep in the night begin to release.
Happiness began to drain from the monster -
as the sun sunk slowly into the horizon.
The light was suddenly trapped from his perfect world
and the shadows began to creep and crawl towards him.
He sat still, consumed in his misery,
and plunged into this deep darkness.
The coarse hair raised on the back of his neck
and his claws - did they tremble.
As the humans snuck from their hiding places and circled the monster,
they conjured up horrible thoughts in his mind.
His tummy drummed and his skin even crawled
as the humans snuck ever, ever closer...
And so he squeezed his golden eyes shut ever so tightly
and wished hard for sun's daybreak under his mighty breath.
As if someone far away had heard his desperate plea,
The sun rose high into the night sky.
Bringing it's gentle warmth,
into the monster's life.
The bright sunlight chased the humans all the way back,
Into their far away hiding places.
And brought the security and happiness
the monster once felt...
Back...
...to the islands golden sands.

The Colour Purple

Lowering the body of some one you once knew,
In a wooden box into the ground below you.
I'm not really sure if your really gone.
A picture of you stands in an emptier room,
one of the infinite things that brings my thoughts back to you.
I'm not really sure if I'm okay.
A family moves closer as it's numbers fall smaller,
from the body in the box grows a four leaf clover, now.
It'll take me a while for me to understand,
to appreciate our time and not miss what we'll never have, now.
Days are blurring together,
and lack of sleep pulls me away,
But your memory is with me forever,
Until I die, I'll live my life...
For the two of us.
Days are blurring together,
and lack of sleep pulls me away,
But your memory is with me forever,
Until I die, I'll live my life...
For the two of us.

Candles
04:13
|
|||
Relight the candles on my window,
break the clock and sit here all alone,
I can't sleep with your scent still on my bed.
Sing me to sleep.
So drink yourself to death,
and be the child you want to be,
you wont change for me.
And like you said,
why should you have to?
I'm the only thing you will lose.
So I guess you deserve better than me,
I've lost track of what I want things to be,
So I'll try and put the candles out for good,
and tell myself it's over.
It's over.
